Jamie my life long friend. I have such great memories of the two of us growing up together and sharing so much fun together. We both started driving a cab together and eventually you wound up owning Paromont taxi. I will continue to think of you for the rest of my life. Condolences to Rosa and Dennis. Sleep well my ond friend. $ Bill Sheridan

Condolences to Jamie’s family. I drove a cab for Jamie at Paramount Taxi and played hoops with him over 35 years ago. We had a similar wit and sense of humor which seemed to draw out a mutual respect. Running that cab company for a year, no less for decades has earned a degree of respect from me. “Ya gotta believe” ... May God bless and keep you and your family, Jamie...Dan Motta

Jamie Slater was a kind man and an excellent role model. His son Dennis and I have been friends for many years, usually playing
on the same travel teams, oftentimes coached by Jamie. He loved baseball and knew it through and through. He also possessed a sharp wit and was unafraid of using it on the umpire when criticism was warranted, but would do so in an understated way. Billy Martin, he was not (a good thing!).
Jamie always stood up for his son, not only when Dennis might not have gotten that outside corner, but more generally throughout his life. I know they were very close.
Many who know Jamie, Dennis and Rosa know that the family has had Mets' season tickets for decades. With that in mind, I was beyond grateful when Dennis invited me to go with him to the first-ever World Series game in Citi Field history: Game 3 between the Mets and Royals in 2015. Watching the Mets win that game literally 3 rows behind the team's dugout, was one of the best experiences I've ever had in my life. It's something I tell Dennis all the time. I have Jamie to thank for that.
