Obituary of Bridget Devine

LARCHMONT - Bridget Maria ‘Sis’ Devine, 84, of Larchmont, NY, passed away Monday, March 18. Born December 23, 1934 in the South Bronx to Nora and John O’Keefe, Sis had three older brothers. Raised in St. Luke’s Parish, she never lost her enthusiasm for and pride in the vibrant South Bronx of her childhood. She attended St. Luke’s Grammar School and Immaculata High School in Manhattan. In 1954, she met Jack Devine, the love of her life, at a church dance. Sis and Jack married on August 17, 1957 and went on to raise seven children together, first in Throgs Neck and then in Larchmont, NY where they moved in 1972. Sis had many wonderful friends from her years in the Bronx and Larchmont. She loved walking on the beach and collecting seashells. She loved cats, and they loved her back. Most of all, she loved and was devoted to her family: her husband, her children and their spouses, and her twenty grandchildren. The wake will be held at Fox Funeral Home, in Larchmont from 4 - 8 pm on Thursday, March 21. The funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church in Larchmont on Friday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, in memory of Bridget ‘Sis’ Devine of Larchmont, NY or via Memorial ID# 115907720 www.stjude.org
