I just heard about Conrad's passing. Conrad was my piano teacher for a couple of years when I was middle-school and early-high-school aged. I have great memories learning from Conrad. He was an incredible teacher and was really funny. He was a good guy.

I just can't believe you're gone. Conrad was a brilliant musician, a musical genius!! He was my good friend for over 40 years and it will be hard to get along without him. I will miss him forever. I'm so glad I was able to see him last summer, not knowing it would be the last time I ever would. I am just sick with sorrow and can't believe I'll never see him again. He was such a good friend all through the years I knew him, whether I saw him or not. R.I.P. my wonderful friend. You were touched by angels. I'll never get over missing you, and still can't believe you're gone. it will take me a long time to come to grips with you not being around and I probably never will!!
All my love to my great friend, Wendy Sue

I started taking classes with Conrad a little more than 3 years ago. I was really a beginner piano player, and at first I found him a little intimidating because he knew so much... and then i started to know him, and i found him to be a really great human being, kind and thoughtful. I loved our weekly classes and I think that he was a marvelous and very gifted teacher. And he always had so many interesting stories to tell, and he knew so many things about so many subjects. And I even had fun listening to him complaining about whatever crisis happened to him during that week….I miss him a lot. Rest in peace my friend. I hope that you are now in a place where you are in peace and where you can play all day.

After leaving Larchmont I ended up in Washington State.
My ties to home included Conrad. He was there at the service for my Mother and he helped me gather the strength I needed to officiate.
We talked on the phone now and then... in 1995 when I was going through some tough life changes Conrad and a couple other Larchmont friends were my supporters from across the continent.
Conrad was a good listener. I am a talker but I can listen too. One night we were talking and he tells me that he is freaked out because he has never filed a tax return! He was really worried. I can't remember what brought this situation to crisis mode but Conrad was quite upset.
I have a friend here in Seattle who is a musician, a lawyer and a CPA. I called him and told him Conrad's story. He offered to help. They talked, and my pal Joe found a guy in NY to help him out and turn him into a taxpaying citizen! I will miss talking to Conrad... hearing him exclaim "oh man!"...and tell me something cool.

Hey Conrad,
It waa a great joy hanging out with you whenever I would visit Larchmont. My favorite memory of our friendship is when we would stay up til way too late - talking about everything and nothing and laughing about relationships, polotics and this life we all share. The time flew by.
You were born just 2 days before me and I was looking forward to calling you on your birthday - the big 6-0.
You left us too soon, Conrad. At some point this holiday season I'll take a quiet walk in Manor Park and reflect on what a good pal you were.
Best wishes to you, your family and your many loyal friends.

Many years ago, I began looking for a piano teacher for my son Jack, who has Autism. It was hard to find a good fit, as Jack needed "just the right" teacher. As it turns out, Conrad was just the man for the challenge. He soon found that the challenge was less of a challenge and more of a "match". Conrad "got" Jack, and I think to Conrad's delight, Jack "got" Conrad as well.
A few months later, Jack began teaching his brother Harry what he was learning, so Harry began seeing Conrad as well. Harry admired and respected Conrad's talent and wanted to earn his respect. Over the next several years, Conrad became a part of our daily life. The boys learned piano, but also many jokes and life lessons from him...and he learned from them as well. The boys loved his methods and jokes and stories, and he seemed to love them in return.
Over time, with only short breaks for camp and when Conrad entered the hospital, the boys took their lessons and enjoyed their time with Conrad. When he entered the hospital, they gathered magazines and candy to take to him when they visited. They entered his room dressed as doctors, Jack saying, "It's time for your rectal exam, Mr. Adriani", to great laughter...
Last week, Jack and Conrad shared Conrad's last lesson, As it should be...the perfect match. I hope heaven is full of Steinways so Conrad can spend eternity doing what he loved best. Goodbye friend. You will be missed.

You are missed my dear friend. You were a rascal and a rogue, a gifted musician and a lover of beauty - - and so very bright. You inspired and you gave criticism through your own view of what was right. You never sought to deceive, but rather to enlighten. What an eye you had for beauty and such a taste for good food. You loved Lady so. I am happy for you that your suffering is over - - and sad that you're not with us here now.

Conrad made music his life, never wavered from this mission and shared it with many students who will carry on the passion he instilled in them. He is now welcomed home by many of the great masters whose passion inspired him. He leaves a noble legacy in his students and those who were uplifted by his music.

Twentytwo-ish years ago I returned to NY after having been away for about as long. Conrad was so kind, stopping by to see if I needed any thing, to walk our dogs together or just to talk and check in. He did this for the entire year that I was there, not just for the first few months.
Sitting in his family's living room while he played the piano was transformative, especially at a time when I needed a little escape
My heart goes out to his family and his many, many friends left behind without him now.
