Obituary of Kanhai Soondar

Please join us as we honor the memory of Kanhai Soondar, who passed away at age 84 on October 12th, 2024. Kanhai was born on July 16th, 1940 to Ramroop and Baboonie Soondar in Bronte Village, Trinidad. Kanhai was an enterprising businessman, operating a family grocery shop as well working in the steel and sugar cane industries. He immigrated to New York in 1993 and worked at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx until his retirement in 2013. Kanhai’s final years were restful, living between New York and Trinidad. He spent valuable time with his surviving siblings - Surace, Golin, Sandy and Barbara- and enjoying trips with his wife and family, making the most of his retirement. A devout Hindu who was always active in the Mandir, he is survived by his spouse of 63 years, Grace; his children Donald and Randolph; daughters in law, Judy and Ambika; and grandchildren Varun, Deven, Roshan and Julia.
 

Services will be held on Tuesday October 15th concluding at 2:30 at John J. Fox Funeral Home
