Obituary of Daniel W. Busby

Daniel W. Busby, a long-time resident of White Plains, NY, died at his home in West Palm Beach, FL on December 1, 2012 at the age of 88, following a long illness. Dan is survived by his loving wife Nancy (Satalich) Busby, six children and twelve grandchildren from his first wife, the late Regina (Kelly) Busby: Dan (Joyce) Busby of Ashburn, VA; Robert (Cheryl) Busby of Stamford, CT; Margaret Busby of White Plains, NY; John (Suzanne) Busby of Ridgefield, CT; Tom (Denise) Busby of Berkeley Heights, NJ and Stephen (Kate) Busby of Pleasantville, NY. He was also predeceased by wives Mary (Wynn) Busby and Rosemary (McLoone) Busby, and a grandson, Jonathan Busby. Born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn in 1924, Dan was a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School, and he proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Marine Corps. After graduating from St. John's University, he spent three decades as a finance manager at General Foods in White Plains, NY, obtaining an MBA from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY during that time. After retiring from General Foods, he worked at the American Red Cross in White Plains for nearly a decade. Dan was a long-time congregant of St John the Evangelist Church in White Plains, and later served there as a Eucharistic Minister. Later, he became a parishioner at the Cathedral of St. Ignacious Loyola in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus in White Plains and later, in West Palm Beach. He also volunteered as a treasurer for many years with the Boys Scout of America in White Plains, the Catholic Widow and Widowers of Scarsdale, NY, and more recently, on the Board at the Cypress Lakes housing community in West Palm Beach. Anyone who knew Dan enjoyed his sense of humor and his love of music, especially his fondness for playing the piano. He will be missed by the many whose lives he touched. Visiting will be at the John J. Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont, NY on Sunday, December 9 from 2-6 PM. A funeral mass will be held at the Church of the Holy Innocents in Pleasantville, NY on Monday December 10 at 10:00 AM.
